SBS helps migrants navigate daily life in Australia with release of Learn English video series

Learn English from SBS has released a new digital series designed to help people easily learn the English language and better understand Australian culture.

Title Meet the Changs, the comedy-drama series – consisting of ten five-minute videos – follows the newly settled Chang family as they navigate daily life in Australia. The episodes cover a variety of everyday situations, including parent/teacher talks, what to do in the event of a car accident, buying a new fridge and going to the doctor, and are intended to help the 820,000 Australians who said they had no or little command of English. The videos are designed for an audience with a pre-intermediate language proficiency level to help them develop and develop their abilities.

Director of Audio and Linguistic Content of SBS, David Huasays expanding SBS’s Settlement Guide offering with SBS Learn English will help Australian migrants succeed in Australia.

All ten episodes are available now on the SBS Learn English website, SBS On Demand and SBS Australia YouTube page. Each episode also comes with a curriculum available for download with worksheets and tools to help students and teachers learn English. The video series is available with English subtitles and will soon feature subtitles in twelve languages ​​to help audiences understand and learn.

SBS Learn English is a free, cross-platform English learning service for Australian migrants with additional language support.
