On Tuesday, November 9, Stroud School in Romsey held its Language and Culture Day.
Organized every two years, this day aims to promote language, culture and civilizations.
The focus of the day was Portuguese, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese, however, the school also held activities that touched on other cultures, such as Italian, French, German, and the language signs.
During the day, the children took advantage of several transdisciplinary events and activities based on different cultural traditions.
The origami sessions were enjoyed by all and Latin American dances, such as samba, tango and ‘Paso Doble’.
He said: âStroud is very keen to expose his students to different languages. The school believes that a greater experience of language learning leads to the development of the skills and confidence necessary for children to see themselves as âcitizens of the worldâ. Stroud School believes that it is essential that children have the opportunity to become multilingual, as immersion in a foreign culture can open up new avenues of self-exploration and personal growth.
“Language is the blood of the soul in which thoughts flow and from which they grow, (Oliver Wendell Holmes).”
